The Mediterranean Diet well deserves a top spot in the U.S. News Health best diets ranking.
Thirty-five diets were evaluated and ranked with input from a panel of health experts. To be top-rated, a diet had to be relatively easy to follow, nutritious, safe, effective for weight loss and protective against diabetes and heart disease. The government-endorsed Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) snagged the top spot.
The Med Diet ranked at the #3 place in best diets overall.
